 GRIDIO

Described as 'the ultimate techno toy' GRIDIO is a giant human audiovisual sequencer originally developed for the 2002 Sonic Process exhibition at the Pompidou Centre in Paris by dance legends Coldcut and UK VJs Headspace - who these days now perform as the VJammAllstars.  The installation was also shown at MACBA in Barcelona in the same year.

Optronica presents the first UK public appearance of GRIDIO which will be a retrospective of that original 2002 commission and its subsequent revision GRIDIO 1.5 - Tunnelvisions; an installation which was built by Brightonart as part of the Berg der Erinnerungen (Mountain of Memories) exhibition in the Austrian city of Graz for it's 2003 European Capital of Culture status.

Brightonart have continued to develop GRIDIO to work as a mobile installation, last seen in 2006 at the RocketFestival in Spain and at the C.Sides festival in Jerusalem.  This version of the installation will also feature brand-new content adapted from the recent Coldcut and VJammAllstars live shows.

GRIDIO at Optronica wouldn't be possible without the generous support and wizardry of Camart's VJamm software and Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers. Thank you.
